Sauna

What is a sauna?

A sauna is a heated room designed to help you relax and sweat. Traditional saunas, like ours, use dry heat from heated rocks and water to warm the body, improve circulation, detoxify the skin, and promote relaxation. Our traditional sauna is set in a serene garden space at Imani lodge, and is the first of its kind in Bulawayo, providing an authentic experience and health and wellness benefits.

Sauna Benefits:

  1. Increases Circulation: The heat elevates your heart rate, improving blood flow, supporting cardiovascular health - much like moderate exercise.

  2. Relaxes Muscles and Joints: Deep heat penetrates muscles, relieving tension, reducing inflammation, and easing joint pain.

  3. Skin Health: Sweating cleanses pores and promotes a radiant complexion.

  4. Muscle Recovery: The warm, calming heat not only helps you to unwind and relax, it can help to reduce soreness and speed up muscle recovery.

  5. Relieves Aches and Pains: Ideal for easing tension in muscles and joints.

  6. Enhances Sleep: Prepares your body for deeper, more restful sleep by promoting relaxation.

Cold Plunge

What is a cold plunge?

A cold plunge is a specially designed tub filled with cold water that’s maintained at a low temperature, typically between 10°C and 15°C. The goal is to immerse your body in cold water for short periods to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and leave you feeling refreshed and energized.

What is Contrast Therapy?

Contrast therapy involves alternating between hot (sauna) and cold (plunge) temperatures.

Contrast Therapy Benefits:

  1. Energizes the Body: Provides a natural energy boost to combat fatigue or lethargy.

  2. Reduces Swelling: Alleviates inflammation and puffiness, especially in the legs and feet after standing or walking all day.

  3. Boosts Mood: The cold plunge triggers endorphin release, leaving you feeling happier and more refreshed.

  4. Improves Skin Health: Tightens pores and increases circulation for a youthful glow.

  5. Supports Recovery: Aids in recovery after physical activity or long, tiring days.

Typically, it involves spending 10-15 minutes in the sauna, followed by 30 seconds to 4 minutes in the cold plunge, and repeating the cycle. Learn more about the health benefits of sauna and contrast therapy here.
